Things FORM interns don’t do: fetch coffee, shred papers and binge-watch “Friday Night Lights” on Netflix at work. What they do: get an immersive, real-life work experience that prepares them for the marketing communications industry. Entering its second year, the 2017 Wray Ward FORM internship program has named six dynamic students from an applicant pool of 450 to participate in a collaborative, results-driven internship experience this summer.
“The competition was incredible, but these six students awed us with their qualifications, aspirations, determination and creativity,” said Jennifer Appleby, president and chief creative officer. “FORM was designed to cultivate young talent, instill knowledge of what agency life is like, and help the next generation create a strong foundation for their future careers. We’re excited to build on last year’s inaugural program and can’t wait to add these six talented individuals to our team this summer.”
Over the course of the eight-week program, the interns will learn the ins and outs of copywriting, graphic design, video, public relations, digital development and account leadership from the experienced in-house talent. They will also work together to create a comprehensive client marketing communications campaign. Starting in early June, Wray Ward will welcome six interns from across the country:
- Khari Presley is a senior at the University of Georgia and will join as a copywriting intern.
- Maddy Beard will fill the design intern role. She graduates this year from Penn State.
- A junior at UNC-Chapel Hill, Ruijia Zhang will bring video skills to the Motion team.
- The Public Relations/Content team will welcome Linda Horn, a junior at Johns Hopkins University.
- Coming from SCAD, HwangHah Jeong will be a member of the UX Design & Development team.
- Laura Butler, a senior at the University of South Carolina, will join the Client Engagement team.
“This internship program is very hands on, and our FORM team will see how problem solving is a big part of what we do at Wray Ward across all departments,” said Wray Ward Studio Director Rusty Williams who oversees the FORM program. “Our FORM interns will jump in from the start and be challenged to find creative, strategic solutions that achieve real-world marketing goals.”
