As the director of our Connections group, John oversees the agency’s public relations, content marketing, paid media and search marketing disciplines. As consumers continue to engage with brands in new ways – both online and off – John directs the creation of cohesive engagement strategies that cross earned, owned, paid and shared media.
John brings to this position an expertise in understanding how audiences consume information across diverse mediums, building enduring relationships with customers on their terms, influencing thinking and behavior through storytelling and engaging with targets through public relations, content marketing and social media strategies.
He previously managed the agency’s content marketing team, launching and expanding its video production services, while cultivating engaging, educational and shareable content experiences for a diverse array of clients. John joined Wray Ward’s public relations team in 2006, managing programs for industry leaders WIX Filters and Atlas Copco and challenger brand Chicago Pneumatic.
Prior to joining Wray Ward, John provided media relations counsel on critical issues for the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Prior to that, he served as an account lead at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. John earned a bachelor’s degree in communication, with an emphasis in public relations, from Mississippi State University. A military kid, he has adopted Charlotte as his hometown.
